Messiah mentioned by name in the Tenach?
I am no Hebrew scholar- but I came across this interesting nugget:
Jacob while prophesying over his sons (the future 12 tribes of Israel) prior to his death in egypt (Gen 49) is led by the spirit to prophesy over Dan:
v.17 “Dan shall be a serpent by the way, A viper by the path, That bites the horse’s heels So that its rider shall fall backward.”
And perhaps reminded of the serpent in the Garden of Eden? pauses a moment and says a simple but profound statement:
v.18 “I have waited for your salvation, O Lord!”
Taken in the Hebrew the word for “your salvation” is the same word JESUS or “YASHUW`AH”
So Jacob at the end of his life, contemplating the curse and the blessed Messiah that Adam, Noah, Abraham and Isaac had been promised really said, “I have waited for Jesus, O LORD!”
The Word JESUS or Yashuw`ah written in plain Hebrew for every Jew to see. See for yourself: Gen 49:18 (BLB: Hebrew)
And another:
Psalm 28:8
“The Lord is 2their strength,
And He is the jsaving refuge of His 3anointed.”
LORD is obviously Jehovah… But He in the second part of the verse is again the word “Yeshuah” (Jesus). Amazing that “Yeshuah” is translated He, and interchangeable (the pronoun) for Jehovah God. Clear declaration of the deity of not only the Messiah in OT scripture but also specifically Jesus.
“The LORD (Jehovah) is their strength, and YESHUAH (Jesus- the saving refuge) of His anointed.”
Just thought that was cool.
