    I like what the New Living Translation says in this matter;
    Proverbs 18:19 It’s harder to make amends with an offended friend than to capture a fortified city. Arguments separate friends like a gate locked with iron bars.

    If the dispute is due to sin, remember the “plank in the eye” and the reason why you are having the dispute in the first instance - Restitution. That is why you are disputing with your brother isn’t it? For his restitution? Remember we are not allowed to condemn, no matter how much that would satisfy the flesh (well, my flesh would be satisfied, it would quite enjoy it if truth were known)
