On the Gospel

Dec 20th, 2008 by randy | 4

If you plan on sharing your faith with friends, family, co-workers, strangers or from the pulpit it would be helpful to understand the gospel from a biblical perspective.  All too often we share our faith from an experiential point of view.  This is fine so long as we put our experiences in subjection to scriptural truth as opposed to our flawed perceptions of “what we think happened that day.”

These are must listen to messages on the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

John MacArthur, “The Sinner Neither Able nor Willing

Paul Washer, “Regeneration v. The Idolatry of Decisional ‘Evangelism’”:

John Piper; John MacArthur; R.C Sproul; C.J Mahaney;  Albert Mohler; Ligon Duncan; Mark Dever, Round Table Discussion “What is the Gospel?”:

Shai Linne, A Christian Rapper Preaching the True Gospel:

I have been so encouraged by your site here. I too, have a great burden for the truth to be preached in power, as it is close to being lost through “decisional regeneration”. I too was an armineist, but through the study of the scriptures, God has shown me the truth. Thank you so much for you efforts in spreading and understanding the gospel. It has certainly been a blessing to me.

I thank God for His Word to be able to test and measure all this ADDING to the simple message Of His Gospel that you are doing on this blog. If we only had McArthur or Piper to learn from (as you are obviously a disciple of these guys) I would end up with the same sad spiritual pride that you so evidently display on this site. How sad, that you cant see that everyday that goes by …. you continue to “DISCOVER” new things to add to and complicate the message of Gods grace so those who are lost cannot just go to Christ as sinners in need of Christ … as Jesus said ….. “Come to me and I will give you rest” … this blog site does not point the way to Christ for rest from sin …. it just adds to the burden thats already on the backs of lost sinners and brings more doubt, rather than the assurance that Paul says accompanies the Preaching of the Gospel of grace. (1 Thess chp 1)

    Grace and Peace, Randy.

I just got word of Puritan Picks and i have to say that i LOVE the idea.
I will be signing up as soon as I possibly can (within the next 2 weeks.)

I did have a question though. I was under the impression that you may not like or know about Paul Washer, but i see that you posted a video that features him on the top of this page, so that’s not the reason why he’s not in any Puritan Picks DVD. so….what’s the reason?! Also, i see that you know about Shai Linne. I had the pleasure of meeting him at the Legacy Conference in Chicago (they have DVDs so it would be great for you to include them :) and visited the church where he congregates at in Philly (i’m from northern NJ). i was wondering if there aren’t any dvds that feature him either?
i’m guessing the very DVD where the snippet is from would be a good start :)

    God Bless You,

Shon, Jesus didn’t give the rich young ruler 4 spiritual laws and ask him to ask Jesus in his heart. Christ gave him the law and the demands of repentance. How do you explain this, coming from the greatest preacher/evangelist of all time?

Matter fact, nowhere in scripture will you find “ask Jesus into your heart”….So where did we get it from?

What about Christ when he was eating with publicans and sinners?…The scribes riduculed Him and what did He say?…”Those that are not sick do not need a physician”…right? Well, how can you explain the sickness of the scribes and pharisees?….They were VERY sick, now weren’t they? So, why was Christ not eating with them?

    Pray about that.

    God Bless
